We’re incredibly excited to share our grass-fed beef with you!

Through our raising of the beef and making it an integral part of our family’s diet, we’re fully invested in delivering a product that’s of premium quality from start to finish.

We often like to say that we consider ourselves soil builders first and cattle ranchers second. We ranch in a way that puts the health of our land and earth first. Our regenerative grazing methods ensure that the land will produce a healthy selection of grasses for our animals to feed on. This results in grass-fed beef that is healthier for you, tastes better than conventional beef and is better for our planet in both the short and long term.

Why it tastes better

Renowned chef, and co-owner of Blue Hill Farms, Dan Barber had this to say about the taste of grass-fed beef compared to conventional beef: “With conventional beef, what you’re tasting is fat: nutty and greasy. There’s an oily quality that coats your mouth. One thing that’s missing is real beefiness. The flavor comes from the fat, rather than the animal itself. Grass-fed beef has a taste that’s clean and rich, and undeniably beefy.”

El Morro Valley Ranch beef is truly delicious. It features a taste profile of typical grass-fed beef, complemented with a unique flavor that’s derived from the volcanic soil, high elevation grasses, and spring water from upon which it was raised.

Why it’s better for your health

As the timeless adage goes, you are what you eat.

The differences in what cattle eat changes the nutrients and fats you get from eating the different types of beef. Conventional beef cattle have a diet that includes grains, such as corn, at some point. When compared with other types of beef, grass-fed beef has shown to have increased health benefits in a number of areas. Grass-fed beef is known to have:

  • More conjugated linoleic acid, a type of fat that’s thought to reduce heart disease and cancer risks
  • More antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin E
  • Lower risk of E. coli infection and bacteria that’s antibiotic-resistant
  • A significantly better omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio
  • Less total fat
  • No hormones and no antibiotics

Overall, a diet that features grass-fed beef is widely regarded as being healthier than that which features conventional beef.

Why it’s better for the planet

Conventional feedlot cattle production and the intensive grain farming required to sustain it are major sources of greenhouse gasses. With our implementation of regenerative grazing methods and overall dedication to sustainable ranching, our pastures and grasslands act as carbon sinks and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
